A frog living in a shallow well merrily described its happiness and well-being to a great turtle from the East Sea, warmly inviting the turtle to visit its home.
The turtle could not enter the frog's small abode and could only speak with it by the well's handrail. The turtle said, "The sea is so vast that neither a thousand miles can describe its width, nor a thousand ren (an ancient unit of length) its depth. Neither time nor rainfall can change its capacity. It is a great joy to live there."
Upon hearing this, the frog was at a loss, surprised, and depressed.
