King Wu embarked on a journey to admire the scenic mountains within his domain. Accompanied by his stately honor guard, he ascended a peak.
The mountain monkeys fled in fear from the king's attendants, all except for one large monkey, which showed not the slightest sign of alarm.
To display its bravery, the monkey flaunted its cleverness and dexterity. It even reached out its paw, caught an arrow shot by King Wu, and began brandishing it. Enraged by this sight, the king waved his hand, and all his attendants fired their arrows at once. The monkey found it impossible to dodge the volley. Struck by multiple arrows, it died clinging to a tree.
