A fox, seeing a fish cart approaching, lay down and pretended to be dead.

The cart driver, tempted by the prospect of selling the fox's fur for extra money, picked it up by the tail and threw it into the back of the cart among the fish. He then resumed his journey.

The fox ate its fill of fish and jumped out of the cart.

A wolf saw the fox jump out and asked what it had been doing. The fox explained everything, including how it got into the cart in the first place. Hearing this, the wolf ran ahead, lay down in the cart's path, and also pretended to be dead.

The cart driver was delighted to find another animal to sell. However, he found the wolf too heavy to lift.

So, he pushed the wolf into a sack, tied the sack to his cart, and dragged it away.
