The Mantis Blocks the Cart | 螳臂当车

点击查看中英对照

Once, a carter was driving his cart when a mantis jumped out in front of it. Raising its forelegs, the mantis tried to obstruct the cart's passage. Of course, it was crushed by one of the wheels.

This idiom is used to describe someone who overrates themselves and attempts to do what is beyond their ability. The result can be nothing but failure.
