A Hare once ridiculed the short feet and slow pace of the Tortoise. The Tortoise replied, laughing, "Though you are swift as the wind, I will beat you in a race." The Hare, believing this to be impossible, agreed to the proposal. They decided that the Fox should choose the course and set the goal.
On the appointed day, the two started together. The Tortoise never stopped for a moment, moving forward with a slow but steady pace straight to the finish line. The Hare, lying down by the wayside, fell fast asleep. Finally waking up and rushing as fast as he could, he saw that the Tortoise had already reached the goal and was comfortably dozing after her fatigue.
Slow but steady wins the race.
