It is a sweltering June day. Josie is bored in school, longing instead for the beach and the tide.
She fidgets in her seat, unable to stop talking.
While Mr. Rolla writes on the board, Josie gets up to whisper to a close friend. Hearing the noise, Mr. Rolla says, "Josie, sit down and be quiet." Josie complies, but only briefly. Soon, she's up again, talking to another classmate.
"Sit down and be quiet," Mr. Rolla repeats, growing increasingly annoyed. Josie continues her chatter.
"Alright," Mr. Rolla says, finally furious. "If you want to talk so much, come to the front of the class and be the teacher."
"All right," Josie agrees. She marches to the front and announces, "Quiet, everyone. I am the new teacher, and I say class is dismissed."
