A man was on his way to a rich man's house. Along the road, he saw a box of fine apples by the roadside. "I don't need these apples," he thought. "The rich man will surely give me plenty of delicious food." So he picked up the apples and threw them into the dust.
He continued his journey until he reached a river. The river had swollen and become too wide to cross. After waiting for a while, he said, "I cannot reach the rich man's house today because I cannot cross this river."
He began to walk back home. Having eaten nothing all day, he grew hungry. When he came upon the apples again, he was glad to retrieve them from the dust and eat them.
