Our capacity to endure hardship often surpasses our imagination, yet we only discover this inner strength in critical moments.
During the Japanese invasion, a woman from the countryside was forced to flee with her three young children at age 26. Witnessing fellow villagers succumb to despair, she would comfort them, saying, "Don't do anything foolish. There is no setback we cannot overcome. The invaders will be defeated one day!"
She persevered until the war's end, only to lose her eldest son to illness. Her husband, devastated, refused to eat or drink. Through tears, she urged him, "Our fate is hard, but we must persist. We can have another child. There is no setback we cannot overcome."
After bearing a second son, her husband died of edema. Heartbroken, she eventually gathered her strength, embraced her children, and whispered, "Don't be afraid, my darlings. You still have me."
Through painstaking effort, she raised her children alone. As their lives improved and all were married, she would tell everyone, "See? I was right. There is no setback we cannot overcome!"
In her old age, while caring for her grandson, she broke her leg. Too frail for surgery, she was confined to bed. Her children wept, but she calmly asked, "Why cry? I'm still alive."
Bedridden, she never complained. She took up sewing, learned weaving and embroidery, and her skill became renowned in the neighborhood.
She lived to be 86. Her final words to her children were: "Live your lives to the fullest. Remember, there is no setback we cannot overcome."
True resilience is forged in adversity. Therefore, no matter your current struggles, do not dwell on life's unfairness or remain disheartened. Every setback can be overcome. Defeat comes only to those who lack the confidence and courage to persevere.
