I often see parents or grandparents bring children to our garden center to look at the fish. I always like to ask the children:
"Do you like fish?"
Some say "Yes!" Some nod. Some smile. Their reactions are so meaningful, and they clearly do like fish very much.
"Do you like fish and chips?" I ask again.
Some say "Yes!" Some nod. Some laugh. Only a few say "No!"
To those who like fish and chips, I say: "Would you like to give up one of your favorites—either fish or fish and chips? Keeping just one should be good enough, because fish and chips are made from fish."
The adults laugh. The children stay quiet. Most of them don't want to give up either.
They like fish, and they like fish and chips too.
