A Soldier's Clever Trick
Mr. Robinson had to travel on urgent business and decided to fly. Preferring a window seat, he boarded the plane and looked for one. He found only one window seat still available, next to which sat a soldier. Mr. Robinson was surprised the soldier hadn't taken the window seat himself but proceeded toward it anyway.
Upon reaching the seat, however, he noticed a handwritten note on it: "This seat is reserved for proper weight balance. Thank you." Though he had never seen such a notice on a plane before, Mr. Robinson assumed the aircraft must be carrying unusually heavy cargo. He moved on and found another empty seat away from the window.
Two or three other passengers also attempted to take the window seat next to the soldier, but each read the note and moved away. As the plane was nearly full, a very beautiful girl hurried aboard. The soldier, who had been watching the boarding passengers, quickly removed the note from the seat beside him. In this way, he succeeded in having the girl's company for the entire trip.
