In California, over 600 aspiring lawyers were taking the State Bar exam at the Pasadena Convention Center when a 50-year-old test-taker suffered a heart attack. Only two candidates, John Leslie and Eunice Morgan, stopped to help. They performed CPR until paramedics arrived and then resumed their exams.
Citing policy, the test supervisor refused to grant them extra time to compensate for the 40 minutes spent aiding the victim. Jerome Braun, the State Bar's senior executive for admissions, supported the decision, stating, "If these two want to be lawyers, they should learn a lesson about priorities."
