Da Fuquan crafted a horn that could mimic the sound of a dragon. He played it by the deep pool near Mount Nanshang.
Hearing the sound, the three-legged turtle in the pool feared that people had come to capture and eat it. Terrified, it opened its mouth wide and shrieked hysterically.
Da Fuquan, however, believed this to be the genuine roar of a dragon. He sought out Gong Zhiqi, expressing his desire to learn the true sound of the dragon. Gong Zhiqi told him, "What you heard was not a dragon's cry, but the call of a three-legged turtle. The true sound of a dragon is rarely heard by mortals. The sound from your horn was not a dragon's to begin with, and now you've mistaken a turtle's cry for a dragon's! You have merely abandoned one falsehood for another."
