A hen and her brood of chicks were foraging in a field. Whenever she sensed danger, the hen would gather the chicks under her wings for protection. Eagles and falcons, finding no opportunity, would fly away in frustration.
Later, a crow flew down. The hen observed the crow pecking at the ground alongside her chicks, and they seemed to get along well. Convinced by its friendly behavior, the hen accepted the crow as a companion.
However, when the hen was off guard, the crow snatched a chick and flew away.
Watching the crow disappear into the distance, the hen was filled with remorse for her reckless trust and for being so easily deceived.
