A crow stole a piece of meat and perched in a tree, holding it in her beak. A fox saw this and desired the meat for himself. He devised a cunning plan.
"How handsome the crow is," he exclaimed, "in the beauty of her shape and the fairness of her complexion! Oh, if only her voice matched her beauty, she would rightly be considered the Queen of Birds!"
He spoke deceitfully. Eager to refute the slight on her voice, the crow let out a loud caw and dropped the meat. The fox quickly snatched it up and said to the crow, "My good crow, your voice is fine enough, but your wit is lacking."
