The Lost Axe | 丢失斧头的人

点击查看中英对照 收藏文章

A man lost his axe and immediately suspected his neighbor's son of stealing it. Once this suspicion took hold, everything about the boy—his walk, his expression, his manner of speaking—seemed to confirm his guilt, no matter how he looked at him.

Some time later, the man found his axe while digging in his own well. From that moment on, whenever he saw his neighbor's son again, nothing about the boy's demeanor—not his walk, his look, his speech, nor his manner—reminded him of a thief in the slightest.
