A hound, roaming in the forest, spied a lion. Thinking the lion would be easy prey, he gave chase, imagining a fine quarry. Soon, the lion realized he was being followed. He stopped abruptly, turned to face his pursuer, and let out a mighty roar. The hound immediately turned tail and fled.
A fox, witnessing this, jeered at him: "Ho! Ho! There goes the coward who chased a lion but ran away the moment he roared!"
