An 18-year-old boy with terminal cancer, confined to his home, longed to go outside. With his mother's permission, he ventured out and passed a CD store. Through the window, he saw a girl his age and felt an instant connection.
He entered and bought a CD. "Would you like me to wrap it for you?" she asked with a smile. He nodded. From that day on, he visited daily to buy a CD, just to see her and have her wrap it. Each wrapped CD went unopened into his closet at home. Too shy to ask her out, he finally mustered the courage to leave his phone number on the counter before rushing out.
One day, the phone rang. It was the girl. The boy's mother answered, tearfully informing her, "He passed away yesterday."
Later, while reminiscing in her son's room, the mother opened his closet. Stacks of unopened CDs tumbled out. Picking one up, she opened it. Inside, along with the CD, was a small note: "Hi... I think U R really cute. Do u wanna go out with me? Love, Jocelyn."
Deeply moved, she opened another CD. It contained the same note.
