A Lion caught a Mouse and was about to kill him. The Mouse pleaded, "If you spare my life, I will repay you one day." The Lion, amused by the idea, good-naturedly let him go.

Not long after, the Lion was captured by hunters and tied with strong ropes. The Mouse happened to pass by, saw his benefactor in distress, and immediately began to gnaw through the ropes, setting the Lion free.
