A man from the state of Lu was an avid angler.
Obsessed with the craft, he used sweet osmanthus as bait and a hook forged from gold. He even inlaid the hook with silver thread and jade, and used a thick fishing line spun from kingfisher feathers.
While fishing, he selected the perfect spot and maintained the correct posture, yet he caught no more fish than others. Therefore, in angling, elaborate decoration is not essential. Likewise, in practical matters, a glib tongue is not the key to success.
