Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Ben. On his first birthday, his parents gave him a soft brown teddy bear. Ben carried his teddy bear everywhere, even sleeping with it every night.
As Ben grew, he got his own bedroom and a big bed, but he still took his bear to zoos, parks, and even school. It was his favorite toy.
When Ben became a teenager, he grew more interested in video games and friends. He stopped taking the bear with him, which made the bear sad, though Ben still placed it by his bed each night.
After high school, Ben went to university in the big city. His mother put most of his toys in the attic but kept the special teddy bear on a shelf. Ben's visits home were short and busy, and he often forgot about the bear, who missed the old days.
Ben graduated, got a job, and moved to the city. He visited home only briefly on weekends, sometimes not seeing the bear at all. The lonely teddy bear often sat crying in the dark, hoping his friend would take him away, but it never happened.
Later, Ben got married and had a baby boy. One day, remembering his old teddy bear, Ben thought his son would love it. He ran to his old room, grabbed the bear from the shelf, and gave it to his baby.
The baby was delighted and wouldn't let go of the bear all day. That night, and every night after, the teddy bear slept next to Ben's son, who, just like his father, took it everywhere. The teddy bear was happy again, loved by both his old friend and his new one.
