Deep beneath the sea lies a great kingdom where all merpeople live and swim freely. The king of the merfolk, Poseidon the Great, has six beautiful daughters, the youngest of whom is eight years old.
Her name is Titania. She has golden hair and loves to listen to stories from her grandmother. Her grandmother tells her tales of a distant land where, as they say, people do not swim—they walk.
"When can I see them? Can we go now?"
"When you're sixteen, dear, but not right now."
So every night, when it's time to sleep, she dreams of this land and then falls asleep.
