Jeffery the Giant had many friends. Everyone liked him because he was so kind and always ready to help.
If Peter's ball got stuck in a tree, Jeffery would get it down. If Mary hurt herself, Jeffery would carry her home.
Jeffery liked all his friends, but he was sad. It was too hard for him to play with them because their games were not made for someone his size. Their hiding spots were too small, their jump ropes too short, and their seesaws never came down when he sat on them.
One day, feeling dejected, Jeffery sat under a big tree. "I am too big to play with my friends," he said to himself.
A new voice spoke up. "Hi, my name is Eddy. I'm new here. Do you want to play with me?"
"I'm too big to play with anyone," cried Jeffery.
"I don't think you're that big," said Eddy. "You're big like me."
Jeffery looked up and saw Eddy, who was just as big as he was. Eddy smiled and asked why Jeffery was crying.
"I was crying because I am too big to play with my friends."
"You're not too big," said Eddy. "Their games are just too small. Let's go to the playground together, and I'll show you how to make their games bigger."
Jeffery and Eddy went to the playground together. Jeffery learned how to play bigger games and have fun with everyone. He and Eddy became best friends, and Jeffery was glad to have found a friend who understood him.
