English Original
A gentleman was very proud of his spoiled daughter. He believed she would become a great pianist and paid handsomely for her piano lessons. However, no teacher stayed long; the girl was simply too lazy.
One day, the gentleman invited George Bernard Shaw to dinner. He wanted the famous writer to listen to his daughter play the piano, hoping for a word of admiration.
As soon as Shaw arrived, the girl began to play. She played on and on, but Shaw remained silent, as if hearing nothing. Finally, the disappointed girl stopped. "Am I bothering you, sir?" she asked.
"Oh, not at all," replied Shaw. "You know, I once worked in a weaving factory."
