Sew a Jacket on the Button |

English Original

Mrs. Turner lived in a small town. After her husband died in a traffic accident, leaving her with little money, she often went hungry and suffered in a cold room during winter. A kind shopkeeper took pity on her and offered her a job cooking for him. With the money she earned, she no longer worried about food or clothing.

Mrs. Turner was always ready to help others. She did her best to give to those in need. Sometimes, she would even go hungry herself, giving her own food to the poor. Because of her kindness, she was well-liked and known by everyone.

One Sunday, while Mrs. Turner was resting at home, several beggars came asking for help. She gave them almost everything she had, leaving only a little food for her own supper. That evening, as she was sewing in her room, she heard a knock at the door. She opened it to find an old man standing outside.

"Please have pity on me, Mrs. Turner," said the old man. "I haven't eaten for days. Could you spare some food?"

"Oh, I'm so sorry, sir," replied Mrs. Turner. "I have neither money nor food left. But if your clothes are worn out, I can do some sewing for you."

"That's very kind of you, madam," the old man said happily. "I have a button here. Please sew a jacket on it."
