English Original
A blacksmith had a little dog. It would sleep soundly while its master was hard at work, but became instantly alert when it was time for meals.
One day, the blacksmith pretended to be annoyed by this habit. After throwing the dog a bone as usual, he exclaimed, "What good is a lazy cur like you? When I'm hammering away at my anvil, you curl up and sleep. But the moment I stop for a bite to eat, you wake up and wag your tail, begging to be fed."
Those who will not work deserve to starve.
