Wang Liang's disciple claimed he could travel a thousand li in a day with his team of horses pulling the chariot. However, Zao Fu's disciple doubted this was possible.
Wang Liang's disciple questioned, "The two outer horses are swift steeds capable of a thousand li a day. The two horses in the middle are also fine horses that can cover the same distance. How is it that I cannot travel a thousand li in a day?"
Zao Fu's disciple replied, "It is precisely because your reins are too long. That is why you will never achieve a thousand li in a day."

王良的弟子声称，用他这几匹马拉车，可以日行千里。然而，造父的弟子却认为他不可能做到。
王良的弟子质问道：“我这两边的马，是日行千里的骏马，中间的两匹役马，也是能日行千里的好马。怎么可能一天走不了一千里路呢？”
造父的弟子回答说：“就因为你把马的缰绳系得太长了。所以，你绝对走不了一千里路。”
