Once, a simpleton's wife asked him to buy some ice.
Two hours later, he had not returned. Wondering why, she went out to look for him. She found him standing in the sun at the gate, watching the ice melt.
"What's the matter?" she asked. "Why don't you bring it in?"
"I saw the ice was wet," the simpleton replied. "I was afraid you would scold me, so I'm waiting for it to dry."
