A man was so addicted to gambling that he often came home late. His wife never stopped berating him. One evening, he was detained at work and arrived home late. His wife immediately accused him of gambling again, but he swore he had been at the office.
"I pray to God that you are telling the truth," his wife said.
"May God strike me dead if I am lying," he vowed.
"Then I pray to God that you are lying," his wife said hopefully.
