English Original
Mr. Smith retired from the post office at sixty, three years ago. Now living at home with his wife, whose children work in another city, he found himself with little to do. His wife handled all the housework, and he had no interest in reading or watching sports. Unsure how to fill his time, he was invited by his older friend, Mr. Hunt, to go fishing.
"It's a good sport," said Mr. Hunt. "I'm sure you'll soon be interested."
"But I can't fish at all," replied Mr. Smith.
"That's easy. Come with me tomorrow morning, and I'll teach you."
Mr. Smith decided to try his luck. The next day, the two friends went to a river and began fishing. Suddenly, Mr. Smith asked, "How much do those little red things cost?"
"You mean the floats? Oh, they're cheap. Why do you ask?"
"I owe you one. Mine has just sunk."
