Xi Shi, a renowned beauty, suffered a pain in her bosom, which caused her to frown whenever she went out. An unattractive young woman living nearby observed Xi Shi and thought the frowning expression made her look exceptionally beautiful. Consequently, upon returning home, the girl imitated Xi Shi by clutching her own chest and knitting her brows.
When a wealthy man in the neighborhood saw her, he promptly shut his doors tightly and stayed inside. When a poor man saw her, he immediately took his wife and children and gave her a wide berth.
The girl only knew that Xi Shi's frown appeared beautiful, but she failed to understand the reason behind its beauty.
