A man is driving down a deserted highway when he notices a sign: "SISTERS OF MERCY HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION - 10 MILES." He dismisses it as a figment of his imagination and continues driving.
Soon, another sign appears: "SISTERS OF MERCY HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION - 5 MILES." Realizing the signs are real, he drives on. Sure enough, a third sign reads: "SISTERS OF MERCY HOUSE OF PROSTITUTION - NEXT RIGHT."
Overcome by curiosity, he turns into the driveway. In the parking lot stands a somber stone building with a door sign: "SISTERS OF MERCY." He climbs the steps, rings the bell, and a nun in a long black habit answers. "What may we do for you, my son?" she asks.
"I saw your signs along the highway," he replies, "and was interested in possibly doing some business."
"Very well, my son. Please follow me," says the nun.
She leads him through many winding passages until he is disoriented. Stopping at a closed door, she instructs, "Please, knock on this door," and then leaves.
The man knocks. Another nun in a long black habit opens the door, holding a tin cup. "Please place $50.00 in the cup," she instructs, "then go through the large wooden door at the end of this hallway."
He places the money in the nun's tin cup, trots eagerly down the hallway, and slips through the indicated door, pulling it shut.
As the door locks behind him, he finds himself back in the parking lot, facing a small sign that reads: "Go In Peace. You have just been screwed by the Sisters Of Mercy."
