A retiree received a set of golf clubs as a gift from his colleagues. Deciding to try the sport, he sought lessons from the local pro, admitting he knew nothing about the game.
The pro demonstrated the basic stance and swing, then instructed, "Just hit the ball toward the flag on the first green."
The novice teed up and smacked the ball perfectly. It sailed straight down the fairway, landed on the green, and rolled to a stop just inches from the hole.
"Now what?" the retiree asked the speechless pro.
The pro stared in disbelief before finally managing to say, "Uh... you're supposed to hit the ball into the cup."
