When times were hard, a farmer said to a barber: "Corn prices are low now. I think you should charge half price for a shave."

"I can't, sir," replied the barber. "In fact, I should charge more. When corn is cheap, farmers become unhappy and worried. They all pull such long faces that I have twice the area to shave."

时局艰难之际,一位农场主对理发师说:“现在粮食跌价了,我觉得你刮脸也该只收半价。”

“这可不行,先生,”理发师答道,“其实我应该多收点钱才对。粮食一便宜,农场主们就变得闷闷不乐、忧心忡忡。他们个个都把脸拉得老长,我要刮的面积可是多了一倍。”
