The Age Argument |

English Original

Two men from the state of Zheng were arguing about who was older.

One declared, "I am as old as Emperor Yao." The other countered, "I am the same age as Emperor Huang's elder brother." Neither would yield, and their claims grew increasingly absurd. Eventually, one grew too weary to continue and stopped first.

Seeing his opponent fall silent, the other man believed he had won and immediately became elated and triumphant.
