English Original
An old man operated a pretzel stand on a street corner, selling each pretzel for a quarter. Every day at lunchtime, a young lawyer would pass by, leave twenty-five cents, but never take a pretzel. This routine continued for years, and throughout that time, they never exchanged a word.
One day, as the lawyer left his quarter as usual, the old man finally spoke to him. "Sir, I appreciate your business, and you've been an excellent customer," he said. "But I must inform you that the price of a pretzel has increased to thirty-five cents."
