The Seventh Fairy |

English Original

In the Han Dynasty, a man named Dong Yong lived in Qiancheng. After his mother's early death, he cared for his elderly father diligently, even transporting him on a small cart. When his father passed away, Dong Yong sold himself into slavery to pay for the funeral. His master, recognizing Dong's virtue, gave him money and freed him.

After three years of mourning, Dong Yong set out to return and serve his master as promised. On the journey, a woman approached him, saying, "I am willing to marry you." They went to the master together. The master reminded Dong that he had already been paid, but Dong insisted on repaying the kindness. When asked about his wife's skills, Dong replied she could weave. The master then requested she weave one hundred bolts of fine silk.

Dong's wife completed the task in ten days. Afterwards, she revealed her true identity: "I am a weaver from Heaven. The Emperor of Heaven, moved by your filial piety, commanded me to help you repay your debt." With those words, she ascended into the sky and disappeared.
