In 1990, Sweden launched its first rocket into outer space with a crew of a chimpanzee and a Norwegian. A control panel before them featured a red and a green light. The red light signaled an incoming instruction for the Norwegian, while the green light indicated one for the chimpanzee.
Ten minutes after blast-off, the green light flashed. The chimpanzee was instructed to slightly alter the rocket's course, take infrared photographs of Sweden, and repair the radio transmitter. Half an hour later, the green light flashed again, and the chimpanzee was told to calculate the fuel consumption rate, adjust the computer, and make observations related to Earth's magnetic field.
By then, the Norwegian grew restless from inactivity and resentful of the busy chimpanzee. An hour later, the red light finally flashed. The Norwegian eagerly awaited his instructions. A minute later, the order came: "Feed the chimpanzee."
