A cat fell in love with a handsome young man and begged the goddess Venus to change her into a woman. Venus, being gracious, transformed her into a beautiful maiden. The young man fell in love with her at first sight and they soon married.
One day, Venus wondered if the cat had changed her habits along with her form. She released a mouse into the room where the couple was. The young woman, forgetting her human state, immediately jumped up and chased the mouse. Disgusted by this, Venus changed her back into a cat.
