A broom seller went to a barber for a shave. The barber bought one of his brooms. After the shave, he asked the price.
"Two pence," said the man.
"No," said the barber, "I'll give you a penny. If that's not enough, you may take your broom back."
The man took back his broom and asked what he owed for the shave.
"A penny," said the barber.
"I'll give you a half-penny," replied the man. "If that's not enough, you may put my beard on again."
