Tom was exhausted and went to bed as soon as he got home.
Suddenly, it occurred to him that he had planned to do something that evening. Unable to remember what it was, he tossed and turned in bed for a long time.
Finally, it came to him. "My God," he said depressingly, "the original plan was to go to bed early!"
