English Original
In secondary school, I was always self-conscious about my height.
Once, a lifeguard asked me out. Having never stood next to him, I didn't know his height. On the night of the date, I prepared two pairs of shoes: one with heels, one flat. I arranged for my brother to answer the door, compare their heights, and then run upstairs to tell me which pair to wear.
When the doorbell rang, I waited. My brother appeared and delivered the news I dreaded: "Go barefoot."
