Highway 22 | 22号公路

English Original

A highway patrol officer spotted a car driving dangerously slow on a busy freeway. He pulled it over and found the driver to be an elderly lady with four other older women as passengers.

"Ma'am," said the officer, "driving this slowly is almost as dangerous as speeding. You need to maintain the speed limit."

"But I always keep to the limit," replied the lady. "I was driving at the limit when you stopped me."

The officer asked, "What do you think the speed limit is on this road?"

The dear old lady said, "I just saw the sign a moment ago: U.S. Highway 22."

"But ma'am," the officer explained, "that's the highway number, not the speed limit."

The lady was very apologetic, and of course, no ticket was issued. The officer noticed that all the passengers looked pale and frightened. As he turned to leave, wondering if his presence was the cause, he turned back and asked the driver, "Ma'am, are you sure all your passengers are alright?"

"Oh, they'll be fine in a few moments," she replied. "We just turned off Highway 120."
