Working with a Farrier |

English Original

There was a poor man in the state of Qi who made his living as a beggar in town.

After some time, the townspeople began to dislike him and gradually refused to give him food.

With no other option, he went to work at a farmer's stable with a farrier, making a meager living in the suburbs. The townspeople then mocked him, saying, "You work with a farrier and eat his leftovers. Aren't you humiliated?"

The poor man replied, "There is nothing more humiliating than being a beggar. I could even endure mendicancy, so working with a farrier is nothing to me."
