An elderly couple was extremely frugal. Through their thrift, they had acquired a beautifully furnished house. One day, the old woman couldn't find her husband and called out, "Old man, where are you?"
"I'm in the parlor, taking a nap," he replied.
Hearing this, the old woman was horrified. "What? On the sofa?" she cried.
"No, I'm lying on the floor," said the old man.
"Not on that grand carpet?" she asked anxiously.
"No," her husband reassured her. "I've rolled it up."
