Frequent hand-washing as a medical technologist and the harsh Alaskan weather gave me very dry skin. One night before bed, I rubbed petroleum jelly on my hands and put on a pair of old white gloves.
Sitting in bed reading with my gloves on, I saw my husband enter the room after his shower. After drying off, he went to the closet, selected a tie, and began putting it on.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Well," he replied, "if you're going to be formal, so am I."
