Three women — a brunette, a redhead, and a blonde — entered a unique competition: swimming from Santa Monica to Catalina using only the breaststroke.
After approximately 14 hours, the brunette staggered ashore and was declared the winner.
About 40 minutes later, the redhead crawled onto the shore, securing second place.
Nearly four hours after that, the blonde finally arrived, collapsing in front of the worried onlookers. When reporters asked why her swim took so long, she replied:
"I don't want to sound like a sore loser, but I think those two other girls were using their arms."
