A homeless man stops at a farmhouse to ask for shelter for the night. The farmer welcomes him in. At dinner, the man is astonished to see a gigantic pig sitting at the table like a human, wearing three medals and a wooden leg.
Overcome with curiosity, the man asks about the bronze medal. The farmer explains that the pig saved their son, Timmy, from drowning in the lake.
"And the silver medal?" the man asks. The farmer tells how the pig woke the family when their house caught fire.
"What about the gold medal?" The farmer recounts how the pig chased away a burglar who attacked his wife.
Finally, the man asks about the wooden leg. The farmer replies matter-of-factly, "Well, you don't eat a pig like THAT all at once!"
