Once upon a time, there was a man named Naboth who owned a beautiful vineyard. He had inherited it from his father and earned a good living from it.
One day, the king passed by the vineyard and was so captivated by its beauty that he desired it for himself. He approached Naboth and asked, "Would you sell your vineyard to me? I will pay you well."
"I am sorry," Naboth replied. "This vineyard is a heritage from my family. I cannot sell it at any price."
The king returned home, displeased. When the queen asked what troubled him, he told her the story. "You forget you are the king!" she said. "Let me show you how to get it. Appoint Naboth to a public office, then find an excuse to sentence him to death."
The king followed her advice. Naboth was executed, and the king took possession of the vineyard.
When God learned of this, he was furious. He declared, "The king shall be devoured by dogs, and the queen by birds of prey. They are wicked, for they have taken what was not theirs."
In the end, people discovered the king and queen dead during an outing.
