The Parrot |

English Original

A young newlywed couple inherited a talkative parrot from an elderly relative. The bird constantly reported on their private life to visitors. After one particularly embarrassing remark, the husband warned the parrot, "That's it! From now on, you'll be covered up early. If you remove the cover or embarrass us again, you'll be sent to the zoo."

Two days later, while packing for a trip, the couple struggled to close an overstuffed suitcase. The husband suggested, "I'll get on top and jump, and you try to close it." When that failed, the wife proposed, "Let me get on top and you try." Still unsuccessful, the husband said, "Tell you what, let's both get on top and bounce. That'll work."

Hearing this, the parrot pulled off its cage cover and declared, "Zoo or no zoo, this I have got to see."
