Masculine or Feminine?
You might not have known this, but many non-living objects are often playfully assigned masculine or feminine traits. Here are some humorous examples:
- Freezer Bags: Masculine. They hold everything in, yet you can see right through them.
- Photocopiers: Feminine. Once turned off, they take a while to warm up again. They are effective when the right buttons are pushed, but can wreak havoc if you push the wrong ones.
- Tires: Masculine. They go bald easily and are often overinflated.
- Hot Air Balloons: Masculine. To get them moving, you have to light a fire under them.
- Sponges: Feminine. They are soft, squeezable, and retain water.
- Web Pages: Feminine. They're constantly being viewed and frequently get 'hit on'.
- Trains: Masculine. They always use the same old lines to pick up passengers.
- Hourglass: Feminine. Over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.
- Hammers: Masculine. They've hardly changed in 5,000 years and are occasionally handy to have around.
- The Remote Control: Feminine. It easily gives pleasure, one would be lost without it, and even when unsure which buttons to push, one just keeps trying.
